On the 11th of July 5JH had a Showcase
Possum Poem Presentation
The 1st event of the showcase was the Possum Poem. 5JH and 5RLC did the poem together. The poem was called ‘If you go Softly’ by Jennifer Kelly. Our poem presentation included possum masks made out of paper plates, paint, PVA glue and paddle pop sticks. It was well presented.
Showing parents our work
Back in the classroom our classmates showed the parents the work they had done, including diaramas, energy posters, Queensland Day quilts and newspaper reports. This is some of the work we did in Term 2.

Hot Air Balloons
Reported by Damon 5JH
We arrived at school at 6:00am on Wednesday the 11th July. We were at school to fly the hot air balloons. We were a bit late, my Mum, Step-Dad, Sister Lily and I, but at least we got there. We all spotted a hot air balloon as small as a rubber up in the sky. We walked over and joined the excitement.
My hot air balloon that my friends and I made was off first, too bad we missed it. The first one we got to see was the first one to burn up. It was bad luck for that group.
The next balloon went up about 3 to 7 metres high. The next one made everyone laugh. It went up and the wind pushed it, and it caught on fire and landed on the road. All the kids ran over and put it out.
The first one we saw that was as small as a rubber caught on fire and just turned to ashes and disappeared. The show was over and it was time to clean up. We snuck out early. We weren’t the only ones to sneak out. Troy, my friend snuck out before we even noticed.
