During the middle phase of learning, students begin to investigate the larger world beyond home and school and need to develop as autonomous learners. They have distinctive and diverse needs which stem from the very significant developmental changes in this period, as well as from a broad range of individual students' life circumstances, interests, skills and talents.
At Kallangur State School we have middle phase learners from Years 3 to 6.
These students are consolidating the foundations of literacy and numeracy that they gained in the early phase of learning and developing more sophisticated skills to enable further learning in each subject area.
We provide learning opportunities where students are able to engage in purposeful, intellectually challenging learning that is connected to the real world and to their own experience. They have opportunities to achieve success and to develop as independent learners.
