At Kallangur State School, students in Year 5 and above can apply for Senior Leader recognition. This role fosters responsibility, leadership, and a sense of pride in their school community. Senior Leaders play an important part in school life by assisting younger students in the playground and library, as well as actively supporting our school's Containers for Change sustainability program. These roles provide valuable experiences that help our students grow into confident, community-minded individuals.
At Kallangur, Year 5 Senior Leader students also have the exciting opportunity to nominate for School Captain and House Captain roles, taking on significant leadership responsibilities within the school community in Year 6. Candidates present a speech to the Year 5 cohort, showcasing their leadership qualities and vision, after which their peers vote to elect the successful students to these important roles. These leaders represent the school with pride at formal occasions such as the ANZAC Parade and other events requiring student representatives, including sports carnivals. They also lead school parades, foster school spirit, and serve as role models for their peers and younger students. Through their leadership, they embody the school's values of respect, responsibility, care, and effort, contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture.
