Students and teachers at Kallangur State School have the right to learn and teach in a safe, supportive environment and to be treated with respect by other students, staff and community members. Our four school values are:
  • Respect
  • Caring
  • Responsibility
  • Effort.

Student Engagement Centre (SEC)

The Student Engagement Centre (SEC) is a dedicated space where students receive support in behaviour regulation and overall well-being. The SEC team focuses on providing a positive and nurturing environment for students to develop both socially and academically.

The SEC Behaviour Team is comprised of a Head of Department (HOD-SS), a full-time behaviour teacher, and two full-time teacher aides. Together, they work to create tailored strategies for students to manage behaviour, offering alternative learning arrangements and break time reflection opportunities to help students grow and reflect on their actions in a constructive manner.

Programs Offered by the SEC:

  • Supported Play: A supportive and proactive break time program for Year Prep-6 students that has a high student to teacher on duty ratio, enhances social skills and fosters appropriate interactions.

  • Mini and Young Gun groups: Tailored group sessions that foster teamwork, personal growth, and positive behaviour.

  • Social Skill Groups: Interactive sessions aimed at developing essential social skills for building positive peer relationships.

  • Behaviour Tracking and Check-ins: Regular check-ins and tracking tools to monitor student progress and provide consistent feedback and support.

Through these programs and dedicated support, the SEC works to empower students and create an inclusive school environment.
