Instrumental Music Program:
Our Instrumental Music Program offers selected students the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments, including strings, woodwind, brass, and percussion.
Program Details:
- Strings: Students begin learning string instruments (Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass) in Year 3.
- Woodwind and Brass: Instruction for Flute, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto & Tenor Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, and Euphonium starts in Year 4.
- Percussion: Drums, Mallets, and Auxiliary Percussion are also available.
Lessons are held during school hours, once a week, in group settings of 3-8 students for 30 minutes each.
Commitment and Performance: Students are encouraged to commit to the program, which includes participation in either the String Ensemble or the School Concert Band. Rehearsals for these ensembles take place before school, and students have the chance to perform at various school events throughout the year.
Enrolment Process: Information regarding recruitment for the following year is sent home in Term 4, with notifications of successful placements provided before the school year concludes.
Music Uniform
Students in the Instrumental Music Program are required to wear the Kallangur State School performing arts shirt, available for purchase through the school.
Choir Opportunities:
Junior Choir: Students in Years 1 and 2 can join the Junior Choir, which rehearses during lunch and performs at various school events throughout the year.
Senior Choir: Students in Years 3-6 can participate in the Senior Singers, with rehearsals held before school once a week. This group also performs at school events throughout the year.
