Kallangur State School caters for early phase (Prep to Year 2) and middle phase (Years 3 to 6). Our curriculum covers eight learning areas with a strong emphasis on developing literacy and numeracy skills. Our key learning priorities in English are reading and writing including spelling, grammar and punctuation.  In Mathematics the focus is on numeracy with an emphasis on the proficiency strands of understanding, fluency, problem solving and reasoning.

The Learning areas at Kallangur State School include English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (which incorporate the subjects of History, Geography and Civics and Citizenship), The Arts and Technology.

Specialist teachers deliver lessons for Music, Japanese and Health, Physical Education and Digital Technologies.

Our Whole School Curriculum Plan is developed from the National Curriculum Achievement Standards and our teachers plan, teach, reflect and report directly on student achievement from these achievement standards.

Kallangur State School is fortunate to include resource staff such as a Master Teacher (Mathematics), Head of Curriculum (P-6), and 2 Teacher Mentors who have various roles and responsibilities to support teachers in their pedagogical practice.  We utilise the skills of 2 Support Teachers in Literacy and Numeracy (STL&N Teachers) to provide modifications of the curriculum, differentiation and intervention support for a wide range of student needs. Our teachers are supported by teacher aides who cycle into every classroom daily during reading groups and support students in number concept areas.  At Kallangur State School we provide small group focused support to differentiate teaching and improve learning outcomes for all students in our care.

Kallangur also offers a one-to-one iPad program and you may read more about this on our Computer and science labs page.
